This Saturday kicks off the Scouting for Food effort. This is a central Virginia wide effort and a Scouting tradition for 27 years. Did you know that 1 in seven kids in our area don’t have enough to eat? But thanks to Scouts and parents who participated in this effort last year, the Central Virginia Food Bank received an estimated 200,000 pounds of food. This made up 15% of the total food received by the food bank in 2013. The amount of food collected went a long way in helping those children and their families in the area who otherwise might not have access to wholesome, nutritious food. An estimated 265,000 shopping bags will be distributed on Saturday, October 25th and then picked up on Saturday, November 1st. Pack 788 will be responsible for distributing and picking up 1200 of those bags. The more helpers we have the faster the distribution will go.
For those families attending the Creepy Hollow Campout this Saturday and Sunday here is some important information in additon to the emails received earlier in the week.
Due to a rainy and cold weekend forecast, the family campout has been cancelled. We are looking into rescheduling and will let everyone know if that happens. Refunds will be given as soon as possible.
